Problems & Goals
Microsoft has multiple web sites for the same products. For example, there is a Surface.com site and a Microsoft Store site which basically house identical content (albeit one is more marketing driven and the other one is more “buy” focused). There was an initiative to consolidate sites for a more seamless customer experience. The Store Team invited me to lead this project although I wasn’t actually on the team.
Solution & Impact
I help lead a group of designers and editors and was in charge of all content and page design. I challenged the existing model and put forth an innovative UX I designed The Surface prototype was A/B test and it yielded a 21% lift of Surface orders over the control site (existing Store pages.) This approach was ultimately adopted across all sites for “One” Microsoft moving forward.
Team & Responsibilities
We had 2 weeks to go from “zero” to final design for the entire new site. We had five designers assigned to the project. Once I solidified the content strategy and wire-frames for the pages, I assigned pages to each designer and we divided and conquered.
My responsibilities included art direction, navigation design, content strategy, wire-frame creation for each page, page design, and CSS animations.
